The Dwight Village Board of
Trustees met in regular session at 6:00 p.m. with the meeting
being called to order by President Bill Wilkey. Roll call was
as follows:

Other Village officials in
attendance were Administrator Kevin McNamara, EMS Director Al
Metzke, Police Chief Tim Henson, Public Works Director David
Bozarth, and Village Attorney Gary Neville.
President Wilkey led everyone
in the Pledge of Allegiance.
A motion was made by Woods and seconded by
Kester to approve the minutes of the February 8, 2010 regular
Village Board meeting. Roll call was as follows: Kester-aye;
Airgood-aye; Woods-aye; Wilkey-aye. Motion carried.
*Trustee Anderson entered the meeting at 6:03
p.m.
The bills were presented for payment from the
various funds in the amount of $122,424.86. A motion was made
by Kester and seconded by Airgood to pay the bills as
submitted and approved by the Village Trustees. Roll call was
as follows: Kester-aye; Airgood-aye; Woods-aye;
Anderson-aye. Motion carried 4 – 0.
A motion was made by Airgood and seconded by
Woods to approve the January 2010 Treasurer’s Report as
submitted by Treasurer Diane Jensen. Roll call was as
follows: Kester-aye; Airgood-aye; Woods-aye; Anderson-aye.
Motion carried 4 – 0.
In public forum, Jill Ohlendorf, 304 S. Union
St., inquired about the Rent Subsidy Program; Patricia Tadej,
303 E. Delaware, asked about how to get her home out of the
flood plain; Andy Kelleher, 130 Bannon Dr., commented on a
newspaper article about sewer replacement fee.
President Wilkey announced the winners of the
Mayor’s Christmas decorating contest. First place went to
Rev. Ognoskie ($100); second place to Ethel Kious ($50); and
third place to Zeke Zimmerman ($25).
Administrator McNamara asked everyone to please
fill out and return their census form when it arrives in the
mail next month. He also said jobs are still available to
help with the census.
Public Works Director Bozarth voiced a concern
he has with a crosswalk that was painted by the Dwight Grade
School on Columbia St. The crosswalk goes from the grade
school property over to the high school property by the girls’
ball diamond. Bozarth indicated an unsafe situation was
created because the children have to walk through ditches on
both side of the road where the crosswalk marks are painted.
Since the Village did not authorize this crosswalk, Village
Attorney Neville was instructed to write a letter to
Superintendent Dale Adams about the situation.
A request by the Dwight Lions Club to stock
Lions Lake was tabled until next meeting because a member of
the Lions Club was not able to be in attendance.
A motion was made by Woods and seconded by
Anderson to enter into Executive Session at 6:20 p.m. under 5
ILCS 120/2(c)(21), “discussion of minutes of meetings lawfully
closed under
February 22, 2010
this Act, whether for purposes of approval by
the body of the minutes or semi-annual review of the minutes
as mandated by Section 2.06.” Roll call was as follows:
Kester-aye; Airgood-aye; Woods-aye; Anderson-aye. Motion
carried.
The Village Board came back into open session
at 6:29 p.m. upon a motion from Airgood and a second by Kester.
Roll call was as follows: Kester-aye; Airgood-aye; Woods-aye;
Anderson-aye. Motion carried.
A motion was made by Airgood and seconded by
Anderson to approve the Executive Session minutes from
September 14, 2009 and February 8, 2010. Roll call was as
follows: Kester-aye; Airgood-aye; Woods-aye; Anderson-aye.
Motion carried.
A motion was made by Kester and seconded by
Anderson to keep the September 14, 2009 Executive Session
minutes closed for public view. Roll call was as follows:
Kester-aye; Airgood-aye; Woods-aye; Anderson-aye. Motion
carried.
President Wilkey announced that Wilma Corrigan,
widow of Phil Corrigan, had donated $500.00 to the Dwight
Ambulance Service in appreciation for all the assistance and
kindness they had shown towards Phil. President Wilkey wanted
to publicly thank Mrs. Corrigan for her generosity.
There being no further business, a motion to
adjourn was made by Airgood and seconded by Anderson. All
voted aye. The meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
